If the recoil is uncomfortable, as dero338 says, look at different stocks and recoil pads first.
The reason i say is that the brake makes it much louder, to the point where you may be concerned about really damaging your hearing shooting it depending on how loud (which brake, how long the barrel, what ammo etc.)
Also, I frigging hate guys with brakes at the range, like it seriously ruins your day at the range when the guy next to you has a brake on his magnum, if you use it at the range get a lead sled and dont muzzle brake it. Fricking sissy whistles make it impossible to shoot around them, I'd rather have hot brass from a semi auto sks bouncing off me then a brake'd magnum shooting next to me, everytime your about to squeeze off a shot you get pushed from the air from the other guys muzzle brake, enough to move your shot placement a few inches, gets really frustrating in a hurry...
