300 Mags for elk

way to go guys.....nice video:)

I guess a 300 works even at 30-30 range eh?:D

rifle looks like a Steyr SBS?

I just resized a bunch of STW cases all the while wondering what I should put in them...then watched this video.....it'll be TSX's for sure;)

Great job guys. Had my blood pumping....especially when the stupid Spiker bull come back into play. Was wondering why he wasnt shooting the bull staight on...then BOOM! Great shot. Seen the same theing on bull elk, cow elk, bull moose. My biggest bull moose (48") was taken with the same frontal shot...charging at me. DROPPED him in his tracks! When my buddy and I got up to where the bull dropped....tall grass... there was blood everywhere...up to 8-10 feet away perimetre. sprayed all up his antlers.

My hunting buddy and I been using our 300WM (Sako m75ss rifles) for all our big game for 11 years, and prior to that I was shooting a 300WM for another 3.

Premium bullets are all I ever used. First was the Winchester Supreme 180gr Failsafes, then the 180 Partition Golds and then since 2004 the 180 Accubonds. Started reloading in 2005. Had TSX's to try but with results of the 180gr Accubonds at the range and on big game at various distances, we stuck withthe Accubonds.

Hey..its all bullet placement right. Even taken elk and moose with my 270WSM with 140gr Accubonds..broadside - double lung shots.

Again..CONGRATS on a great hunt and video for memories later on!

WOW nice video. I was scared for you as at that range a small 300 mag might bounce of the hide and come back at you:D You should upgrade to something shooting 500gr bullets. What if he charged and went for the throat?

Awesome.

You guys are obviously very skilled hunters. I think the discussion of what rifle/gun/cartridge/load bullet combination was used is pointless.

You could have killed that elk with a 22 Hornet or Grampa's 30-30.
