This might be slightly silly but I have a 300 Norma Mag and a fairly decent supply of 125gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Normally I use the 125gr BTs in my 308 to very good effect. Just wondering if anyone has been adventurous enough to try such a light bullet in the 300 NM? There is no published data on the internet. The lightest bullet I could find data for was 150gr and some of that published data says a 150gr will run at 3500 fps.

I've shot coyotes with the 125 BT going at a mere 3000 fps and the terminal effects are very impressive.

The RUM is only a little smaller than the Norma Mag. Based on the published load data for the NM with 150gr bullets, I'd guess it could drive a 125gr to maybe 3800 - 3900 fps. Thats a hell of a velocity for a 30 cal bullet.

no published data first google i tried all kinds of data are you sure you should be reloading
You found "all kinds of data" for a 125gr bullet in 300 Norma Magnum? Humour me and maybe post a link or two because I haven't seen anything lighter than 150gr.

Well my 39 years of loading experience for dozens are cartridges suggest I am just fine with the reloading process. 🤷‍♂️

I tried a few different search and can’t find anything either….

I ran GRT and have a starting point to try with both Varget and H4350. Max velocity looks to be a little under 3700 fps.

Something like CFE223 might produce a bit more velocity just for S&G's but near 3700 fps is moving pretty good.
