Pretty excited about the latest cartridge offered by Hornady, the 300 PRC, (30-375 Ruger wildcat) factory ammo offering of heavy high BC bullets, 212gr ELD-X and 225gr ELD-M, Ive got all the parts including the reamer, only thing Im waiting on is the 26" SS Fluted Benchmark #4 contour, 5R, 1-9.5 twist barrel,

Stiller Predator Action
Wyatts 3.85" Mag Box-SS Follower
26" Benchmark Barrel
SS Bottom Metal
Wildcat Standard Weight Stock
Talleys and Zeiss V4 4-16x44 Z-Plex

I also picked up brass ammo and dies, waiting for the 215gr VLD Hunting and 220gr ScenarL bullets to show up......hopefully Bartell has shipped them !

Soon as the barrel arrives I can drop the goods off to Gary's Bench (Gunsmith Gary Flach) and wait for the results......

Forgive my ignorance, but where does this fall when compared to the other 300's? It's an honest question and I've looked around, but don't really see any head to head comparisons between it and other 300 magnums aside from the .300 Win and .300 Norma.

Very similar to a 30 NOSLER and so Similar theres NO need for it BUT theres lots of room for another RIFLE in WFs Safes ! :d LOL RJ

To me they both seem really similar to the 300WBY, but I figure WbyFan would have a reason and because I like interesting cartridges I'm willing to go along with just about any reason to like a new cartridge. Which reminds me, I'm a fan of all the Nosler cartridges, thinking about getting a 28 Nosler in the spring, but I digress.

The 300 Weatherby is my FAV 30 cal Magnum and we will see how the PRC shakes out ! I Love the 28 Nosler along with my 7 STW and 7-300 WBee I don't have a problem with BELTED cartridges as some do . RJ

Performance wise it’s very similar to a 300 Win mag or just between a 300 win mag and 30 Nosler, The case has a long neck so they are able to seat heavier high Bc bullets out of the powder column of the case and is throated to accommodate long bullets.

here's a few pictures of a 300 PRC that gunsmith Gary Flach put together for me,

Kimber Montana 8400 donor, action trued and squared, mag box extended, Carbon Fibre Bolt Handle added
26" Hells Canyon Carbon Fibre Barrel, 1-9.5 twist, Flach special brake added, Graphite/Pewter Gunkote.
Low Talleys holding a Zeiss V4 4-16x44 scope
High Comb and palm swell added to the Kimber Montana stock, green paint and multi coloured speckle.

Very well done rifle! Congrats.

The only problem is, this one will render everything else in your safe "null and void," do you really want to be a one rifle shooter??? ;)

^^^This is one of my greatest fears! Ahahah!^^^

But nice rifle though, I've been contemplating a 30 cal magnum build lately also and have been looking at the prc and 300 Norma mag. I'll have to keep an eye on your build and see how it goes.

That’s an awesome looking rifle! Let us know what you think of the hells canyon Armory barrel I’m looking at ordering one for my current build not much feedback on them anywhere.

Neat rifles!
Hope you enjoy them!
That carbon fiber bolt knob is pretty cool!

Now that the 300 PRC has become the new US sniper rifle cartridge, this chambering should really take off!

Ok heres a range report on the 300 PRC, the first time at the range it shot ok but not great, factory 225gr ELD-M were right at 1" and exactly at advertised velocity, I also shot some 230gr ScenarL with R26 and at 77grs I was at 2900 FPS, accuracy was better at 76 and 76.5 grs.

After the first trip to the range I cleaned it thoroughly with Carb-Out and man was it dirty followed by some Wipeout and it had very little copper fouling, back to the range

I tried the factory 225gr ELDM again and it shot pretty good and then on to my handholds with Reloader 26, so far so good
