300 prc loads

Anyone tried 8133? I’ve got a bunch of 220 ELD-X that might not be heavy enough for it.
Got some N170 also. I chrono’ed some factory 225 ELD-X our of a 24” that showed about 2700fps.

Did you ever test out those 230 A-tips RJ?

I just joined the 300 PRC club yesterday (Bergara HMR). Will be testing 230 Bergers and 225 eldms with N570 and 8133 if/when I can find time. May try out some 230 A-tips if I find some in stock.

My buddy just recently knocked down a Bull moose ,at least 20 points.

380 yards, the bullet entered the rib cage, busting a rib, tore through the heart and exited the other side .

Entry wound was the size of a nickel and exit was size of a baseball..

But this was with his smaller 6.5 PRC, shooting Barnes Tipped.

got the new rifle out to the range, and put 26rds of factory Hornady 225 eldm through her.
labradar averaged 2862 fps out of the 26" barrel, with pretty ugly ES (max 2900, min 2840). shot sub moa, which I can't complain about, but I'm hoping to start loading this week.

I have been watching some YouTube about loading the PRC. Looks like Magnum powder is a good one. Will give it a whirl when the barrel gets here. I have the better part of a 8lb'r left.

I’m just getting going with my new 300 PRC. KS arms LAR 3 lug action and one of their barrels, 28”.

ADG brass, 225 eldm, F215M, and H1000. After one firing with a lighter load, and only 30 rounds down the tube, I started with a one shot pressure/velocity test going up by half grain then .3 grain jumps.

Started at 75 grains and 2810 fps

By 77 it was 2850
78, 2915
78.3, 2957
78.6, 2949
78.9, 2960

Didn’t get any heavy bolt lift or extractor marks but did notice recoil jumped up on the last couple shots. Likely have a bit more room to go up in charge and will do some testing in the future. For now, I dropped down to 76 grains and started playing around with groups, working up. Mainly trying to get a few more rounds down it before fine tuning. After priming the twice fired brass all of the primer pockets are nice and tight.

Did a bit of pressure testing a few weeks ago. Virgin Lapua brass, 225 ELDMs, N570 and Federal 210M primers. Out of a 26" Bergara HMR.
Started seeing slight ejector shine at 81.5gr, at 2950fps. 82.0gr netted 2970fps, never went past that. Bolt lift was light, primers were still round, but I wasnt interested in hammering my unobtainium Lapua brass.
Seems to have a fat node between 80-81 grains, 2920-2935fps. Superb vertical/consistent POI at 300m, along with surprisingly good SDs for virgin brass and non-magnum primers.
I'm going to do some seating depth testing at 80.7gr, and call that my fire-forming load for now.

I had the barrel replaced on warranty on my 300PRC...with the new barrel 245EOL's with 82 grs of RL33 is 2810 fps and sub 1/2 moa groups.

Started working on Barnes 212 Bore Riders but a load for a 7SAUM (new rifle) put that on hold for this fall...these are extremely long and need a 4" mag box or single feed (vel. just under 3000fps)

Switched bullets this season to the 212 eldx using 81gr of h1000 for exactly 3000fps. Using ADG brass. Shot a 10”
Group at 1km for five shots and also tipped over a large moose at 515yard. One shot behind the shoulder and he stiffened up then flipped onto his back. He only stood for 2 seconds after he was hit.
Found the bullet in the hide on the offside with about 60% of its original weight. I thought it did really well
