300 Norma Mag is interesting, the 300 PRC is just a too slow.

I Think WF is in the 2850 fps Range with the 225 gr ers ! RJ
If the 6.5 and 300 PRC are chambered in the number of rifles the 6.5 CM is and the ammo is similarly priced they will be very popular. I’m looking for a lighter carrying and shooting hunting rifle for the wife that I don’t always have to reload for if time is tight. 6.5PRC is good, but not available in the range of factory offerings yet. 6.5CM looks nice, but it gives up a lot to the 270 in the first 300yds that my purposes require. A Tikka Cerastrat in 270 is probably the one. Brake is fine, hearing pro will be used either way.
Is 300 PRC going to be the new king of the 30 caliber magnums?
2860 with the factory 225gr ELDM out of a 26” barrel, I recently shot a 2.5” group at 820 yards with that factory offering, if it was a 180gr doing that velocity I would be disappointed but not so with a 225gr
I was also getting 2890 with 230gr Atips with 76grs R26
This is out of a brand new #4 contour 1-9.5 twist Benchmark, I’m sure once I get between 100-150 shots it will gain some in Velocity, so far very happy with the cartridge.
It’s an outstanding cartridge, I’ve had two of them built both on Kimber Montana’s 8400s, my nephews has one and my latest one shoots the factory 225gr ELDM amazingly well.
It’s becoming very popular fast, as is the 6.5 PRC.
It is the new king of 30 caliber magnums. Find a flaw or handicap in it's design
SAAMI dimensions allow it to shoot heavy for caliber bullets very well
I'll give it the "factory" nod IF you are a production rifle and factory ammo only kind of guy. I know you are a loader, and I'm pretty sure you could easily shoot the same out of a 300Win if you went that route.
For sharp shoulders and throats to seat long bullets, the 300 Wby already has that (and velocity) over the PRC.
I just see the PRC as the factory option for the non loaders, kind of like the 6.5CM.

Give me a reason to long load a 300 Win Mag to come close to 300 PRC. The 300 Wby will not beat 300 PRC performance
