Hey Guys

I want to start loading rounds while my rifle is on its way its a 300RUM with 1 in 10" twist. I was think Retumbo Powder with Berger VLD Hunter Bullets probably 180 grain.. Any tips would be much appreciated

Thanks guys...

Don't bother with anything under 200grn. You can get real close to 3000fps in a 300winmag with the 208 AMAX and retumbo so a 300RUM should do real close to 3150fps with retumbo and some pipe.

I have been thinking of this exact combo for a rebarrel project. Please post results if you do it! This would be a GREAT 2km gun!

Sounds good so you say shoot something heavier its not going to drop like a tank after 500yrds. My main goal is 1000yrds for now then go from there. I'm going to be shooting it down a 26" pipe.

Don't worry so much about drop. Gravity is easily and predictably bested, but impact velocity and wind are harder to overcome. That's where the heavy, high-BC bullets come in to save the day.

Hey Dude so which one performed the best. I'm looking for an all around load accurate at 500 and still reach out to 1000yrds

A 300 RUM and a 210 berger VLD or 208 AMAX will touch 1000 yrds. EASY...

Starting at 3250fps with a 210 berger VLD and Litz numbers you will only need 18.9 MOA elevation at 1000yrds.

Its supersonic to 2000yrds!!! Find a load that shoots at that speed and its an easy winner.

Prep and prime your brass, but wait for your rifle to arrive before loading the ammo. If you can't wait for your rifle to arrive , seat the bullets just deep enough that they won't fall out. Then once the rifle arrives, you can measure the distance to the lead and optimize the COL right from the git-go.

Rem country, you will find that the heavy bullets will have less drop than the lighter ones at 1000. Its all about ballistic efficiency. The heavies got it.

Just use the nightforce elevation adjustments as designed, and you will have "LOADS" of fun!

Thanks DT I was running the numbers its looks like I'm around 23.4 MOA At 1000yrds with the 208gr Amax at 2950 with retumbo or 23.5 MOA at 1000yrds with 225gr match Hornady at 2920 with retumbo. If that makes Sense. thats following Max Powder Loads.
