I picked up a 300 SAUM a while ago and put it in a lightweight stock for a hiking gun. It didn't like much for factory ammo. Just wanted to see what any of you are shooting, and how it shoots. I've tried 150, 165 and 180 grain factory loads. I loaded up some 165 accubonds and 180 partitions. It appears to prefer the 165 so far. Group was right around 1" I picked up some 150 grain TTSX and loaded a few to try, but haven't shot them yet.

Thanks guys. I don't have any RL powders, but a good assortment. It took me nearly 100 rounds, but it looks like I have 2 loads that are worth looking into more closely. I tried 150 grain BT, 165 accubonds, 150 TTSX, 180 partition, and 200 accubonds. The BT's shot pretty good, but I hit a jug of washer fluid filled with water and it failed to penetrate the 4" jug. Too explosive for me. The 150 ttsx and 165 accubonds look very promising at max loads. I loaded up about 20 rounds of each to compare at distance. The 180 and 200 grains did not group well at all. I have never had luck with the Barnes previously, and I'm hoping I can get one of the bullets to show promise. I'm heading on a caribou trip in August and hope to get a few months to get comfortable with the load. I had to change my scope as the last one I had the crosshairs were too thick to hold consistently for good groups at 100 yards.
