I've got a m700 SS in 300 saum and I've had great success with the 165 gr bullets but have not done some tinkering with 200 gr. Partitions. This rifle is used primarily as a moose/elk rifle. Now my qeustion is, am I giving up to much by going to the 200 over say something like a 180? They give darn good accuracy(seriously I was hoping for inch and a half or so but got under 3/4). I know the 180 will shoot slightly flatter but the 200 will have that much more punch. I'm just wondering if I'm over analyzing this.
\Thoughts please.

I would say try them in the rifle and see how they shoot.
Never hurts to experiment with a few different bullets / weights...thats what its all about. :)

Moose & the 200gr partition.

I use a 300whby and switched to the 200gr partition, I have never looked back, with a muzzle velocity of 2900 it's one of the best loads for taking moose. The Rsum should do very well with that bullet.
Straight shooting, Bill

Just that fact of the accuracy makes me want to stick with them. I just with I could shoot all the bullets and have a purpose for all! (fun fun fun)

If unfired weight meant anything, that might be true, but bullet construction means much more than the unfired weight of the bullet.A 200gr bullet that loses 40% of its weight, will weigh only 120gr after expansion,so in reality,a 150gr bullet such as the tsx that retains 100% of it's weight, could out penetrate the 200gr bullet. On the other hand,a 200gr bullet that exits, may transfer less energy to an animal than a 165gr bullet that transfers all of it's energy to the animal, and does not exit.
