.300 savage problems

hey there my friend and i where reloading .300 savage last night he had a bunch of unprimed never used brass they worked out just fine..then we went to reload the used brass he had it is federal i measured it and it's length is in spec and we full length resized it but when we went to seat the bullets just below the neck will squat out deforming the brass tried to remedy this by adjusting my bullet seating depth thinking that this brass might have been a little longer then the new stuff but no luck it's like the brass is really soft or sumthin.. or maybe I'm just a noob lol...

Make sure you deburr the inside of the case mouth so the bullet will seat easier. Make sure your bullets are .308 diameter also.

Sounds like you are over crimping. Raise up your seating die so that it does not touch the case mouth. Lower your seating rod to seat your bullet to the desired depth. Crimping is not really needed with this round, if you do want to crimp I prefer the Lee FCD. Case length is also important with conventional crimp, not so with the FCD.

Are you sure you have the expander ball in the sizing die? and is it the right size? It should be about 0.307" in diameter. You could also try lubricating the inside of the necks before sizing with a bore brush dipped in powdered graphite.

Your seater die may be set too deep and the crimper is crushing the brass. back it out a full turn and re set the seating depth stem. No crimp is needed.

Yes, and make sure you arn't using 303 bullets (.312" instead of .308")
