Whats the difference between the ProHunter and the Gameking?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to the next question but I'll ask anyhow.

How well do you think a 180 gr prohunter will work in my 300 ultra mag at say oh maybe 3250 fps on deer, elk, moose.:)

How many use cheaper bullets for load development then substitute in a premuim bullet and have had good luck with the groups staying close to the same size?

I have only been shooting factory remingtion 180 gr nosler partitions up until now but I just bought some dies and have some prohunters laying around just beggin to be shot up?

Anyone got any feedback?

Thanks

They're a good target bullet but wouldn't trust them too much with the speed of your ultra.I'd look somewhere else for a big game bullet.

Nope. not good. I shoot the 300 RUM for moose and looooooong range deer.
I've tried both mentioned, + sirrocos+TSX's+a bunch of others.
**IF** the TSX's would shoot worth a damn out of my rifle I'd use them, but for best accuract I had to go to the 200 gr. Partitions. I have 100% confidence in these bullets, regardless of FPS.

Gameking is a boat tail bullet : less drag and better for long distance shot
Prohunter is a traditional flatbase bullet.

I don't think there is any internal difference in bullet construction.
If you do some research you will read Sierra bullets have the reputation to be quick opener. If you shoot too close on big game with fast caliber you may end with bad results and a wounded animal.

Id bust them off at the range, but go with an Accubond or tougher for critters. Too much speed, me thinks a Sierra would be messy and you'd not get very good results in the penetration department. They dont always stand broadside! :)
