We have a 300 wby that shoots 1/2" groups and from time to time 1/4" groups. If your looking for the best of the 300 magnums, I would suggest to go for the 300 H&H. It has more to offer than what you think.
I reload for my father-in-law's pre-64 model 70 300 H&H so I am aware that it is very capable and matches the speed of the 300wsm and sometimes even the 300win. I absolutely love that cartridge but it's hard to find a rifle cambered in 300 H&H and not too many actions that will work with it either. I have brass and dies for the 300win and the H&H, but if I could find a H&H that I wouldn't mind taking into the mountains I would be all over it. I'm all torn this week because I also found a decent deal on a 375 H &H and I'm wondering if I should just grab that and say to hell with a bigger .30
