Well I was bored and had just bought some Hornady 338 cal 200gr FTX's. The plan was to send them as fast as I dared with Retumbo powder. This is the picture after reloading. That shallow was even a crunch seating.
Then take them out and do some shooting. I would hazard a guess that these are going over 3200 fps.
A 300 win mag case will go through the hole in 1/4 inch plate at 100 yards. Not a bad group for no aim point.
The 300 win mag came out to play and some interesting bullets to play with. 200 gr Chinchaga bullets from my buddy Dale. Sitting on a very full case of Retumbo. I actually had to cut back on the powder charge to seat the bullet deep enough. Estimate 3100 fps.
Not a very good group but again no aim point. Substantial recoil!! The 300wm case fits in the hole.

The findings in the snow on the way back to the bench after the 338 spoke. 25 feet from the target.
Having fun flat primers and all.
