300 win mag dies

The Larry Willis one is only really required if you have a specific issue with overexpanding above the belt. Usually in looser chambers. I've never needed one for my Rem 700 but I bought it new so I know how many rounds have been fired in it. I wouldn't get one until I needed it as I know several people who have been reloading belted magnums for decades without needing one. Then again if you happen to get one rifle that has that issue you may need it right away.

I use the Lee collet die for most of my reloading in bolt action rifles. Lee claims it's more accurate but any difference is negligible; it does really improve case life though. You can neck size and bump the shoulder with a regular FL sizing die but the collet die just makes it a lot easier. If you're loading for a semi you will want to bump the shoulders back a touch when resizing (not necessarily a full resize) to prevent misfeeds.

I use a set of Lee dies for 300WM and haven't had any issues. I can easily load 3/4-1 MoA loads with them but if you are going for ultra precision, bench rest accuracy, you will probably want a micrometer bullet seating die.
Some people complain about the decapping rods popping out; I've never had an issue with it. I tighten the nut on the top with two adjustable wrenches when I buy a set and haven't had it happen yet.
Some people have received mandrels in their collet neck sizing dies that are oversized or undersized and the die doesn't work properly as a result. I guess I'm just lucky as I haven't had that happen.

I use lee, they work fine.
FL once, then collet neck resize.
The lee collet die is very good.

If you want better than that, then I would jump to the redding competition nitrile bushing die set, because I dont think that rcbs or hornady does better than the lee collet die. According to a runout test I watched, the lee collet die was the best.
Just my point of view. Some people like some brands more. I try to be fair. The lee collet die is very good for the price.

Just a simple question, any suggestions for a good set of reloading dies for 300 win mag. How is the Larry Willis belted magnum collet resizing die http://www.larrywillis.com/

This die does NOT size the whole case to SAAMI specs, and is not designed to replace a regular FL sizing die. It is a supplementary die that is specifically designed to remove only the "bulge" that occurs just above the belt when
a belted case is fired in certain rifles.
For FL sizing, buy a die set from one of the major manufacturers.

Cheers, Dave.

I will reload for just one rifle a Remington 700 so the Lee collet die look a good option. I have used Lee regular dies in the past (.223) and one thing I don't like about them is the lock nut with a o ring.

well I dont either, so just buy a bag of rcbs lockrings....

Given the 300WinMag is belted I prefer to use a Forster bushing bump/neck sizer to move the shoulder back one thou on fire formed cases and protect the case from bulging above the belt. Then a matching Forster Ultra Micrometer seater and you're set.
