300 Win Mag @ $19.69 at TSC, comes on sale now and then for $16.99 a box of winchester 180gr. That's my reason.

I have had three 300 magnums . 300 H&H(300WSM = same vel) , 300 Win. Mag. & 300 WBY . My buddy has a 308 Norma Mag. Animals will not know the difference when you hit them . Plain and simple . My H&H is getting a new barrel in 300 WBY . Hornady makes 180 gr. Interlocks for it at the same price as the 300WM. Pick the one that feels right to you !

Those 180 gr. Hornady Interlocks can sure kick a mooses ass!I dropprd a 48"bull last fall at 191yds.with my .300 Win.I'm impressed and will be using these in the future.Thi moose took one step left, one step right then straight down!

I have both and voted .300 Win just because if you go on a long trip somewhere you can get .300 Win ammo just about everywhere if you forget yours at home.

Otherwise I see no practical difference between calibres. If you want to break it down the .300 Win is cheaper to shoot wether your reload or not. The recoil is less in comparable rifles.

I've been getting loads out of my 29" ATRS 300 Winchester with 200 NPT at 3200 FPS and with 180 NPT Protected Points at 3450 with no signs of pressure using loading, manual book maximums and gettign 1" or better accuracy. Time for tweaking but no need to use anything but the 300 Winchester, IMHO.

Can't let this die guys.
I reload and even if I didn't,I'd still pick the WEATHERBY ( I don't forget my ammo at home and other manufacturers produce Weatherby ammo.)
The round has been around since 1945 and when I pull my MARK V DELUXE out of it's case at the range or in the field,it makes me feel GOOD !
The animal may not know the difference but I sure do !
I guess it's like driving a 350 HP Camaro or Corvette,,,they both go fast but I'd rather have the 'Vette in my garage...plus the 300 Wby.case holds more powder !

Although I have owned a couple of renditions of both chamberings in the past, I have neither at present, and no intentions of buying one. That being said, I picked the 300 Win Mag, simply because the difference in performance is not enough to matter, and the Weatherby rifles have always left me cold. Too Gaudy, the stock design is just a bit on the radical side. The cases are expensive, and the recoil is greater for little real gain. Personally, I prefer the 308 Norma Mag, or the 300 WSM. [Or if it must be long...the 300 H&H. Regards, Eagleye.
