300 win mag stainless barrel?

I doubt it. Chromoly is going to be way harder.where can you even find a chromed 300 win mag barrel?

You should probably avoid commenting on topics you don't know anything about. Chromoly (Chrome-Molybdenum) and Chromed are not even remotely the same thing.

As for OP:

Stainless steel rifle barrel almost universally outshoots a CM (usually made form 4140 or 4150 steel) barrel. Barrel life is a question of many more factors and definitions. For a .300 WM, the consensus for accurate barrel life seems to be 1000-1500 rounds, after which the accuracy tends to drop off. I doubt barrel material or manufacturing process will vary significantly from this.

I have always thought stainless barrels are a bit more resistant to erosion from firing ... they are more resistant to rust and pitting.

A chrome-moly barrel is stronger than a stainless barrel though.

I used to consume a barrel a year.

A chome moly barrel (blue) slowly erodes at the throat. The rifling gets shallower and the throat gets longer. Accuracy slowly deteriorates.

A stainless barrel wears very differently. To the naked eye it looks like there is no wear at all. With a borescope, you can see little cracks in the throat area. Over time, there are more cracks and they get deeper. Accuracy remains the same. Then, after a shot, a piece of metal between some cracks flakes off. Accuracy is gone.

On average, a stainless barrel lasts about twice as long as a CM barrel.

Stainless barrels last longer, but still burnout. My 22-250Ackly would only last about 1000 rounds.

I have over 1200rds on a Lowthar Walther 32" Super Heavy Palma 10" twist LW50 stainless barrel on a Tikka T3 action.....I bore scoped it and nearly died! The first 1/3rd of the bore has heat checkering! That said....she still shoots sub 1/2 MOA if I do my part.

Lowthar Walther claims an average barrel life increase of 25% or more when using one of their stainless barrel blanks made with their LW50 alloy when compared to other stainless match barrel blanks of similar quality. I hope to shoot the rifle enough to truly find out....my hope is 2000.....but my bet is 1700ish.

Overbore cartridges are known for brutal internal ballistics as well as external / terminal...

I would imagine longevity would be affected by the load your using as well. A hot load would burn the barrel out faster then a lighter load, or am I incorrect in that line of reasoning?
