My 300 Win Mag Varmint Load

Scope: Barska 6x24x50mm
Reloaded with Lee dies on Lee Anniversary press.
Bullet: Hornady 110gr SP (Spire Point)
Powder: IMR4350 @ 55gr
Primer: Winchester Large Rifle
Brass: W-W
Target: 8 1/2"x11" Gopher
Distance: 100 Yards
Wind: Light

This load is between a .308 Winchester and a .30-06 following the reduced loads guide in the Lee Reloading Manual. Recoil is VERY light and you can shoot 100 rounds without dislocating your shoulder.

I've found both the 110 vmax and 125 Speer TNT to be very accurate in my 308, and - surprisingly - the 85gr XTP (for a 32ACP) at 3300 fps is ~1.5" at 100 yards accurate, and EXPLOSIVE on gophers. Much more so than a 22-250; this thing will literally splatter gophers into many small pieces. The '250 splits them open and sprays guts everywhere, but the rest of the carcass is usually in one piece

No problem, I'd never eat one anyways. Stinky vermin.

I shot one once at about 7 yards. I got guts, gibs and gopher #### on me, my gun, my scope and my jeep which was right behind me.

Gopher gibs get really hard once baked in the sun, and take a good bit of work to clean off
