300 win mag VS 300wsm

Have 300 magnums in Wby, 308 NM, 30-338, four 300 WM's. Had a 300 SAUM but sold it. Also have a 300 RUM. Prefer the Wby or NM to the WM, but I never feel poorly armed with any of them. The biggest advantage of the WM is that you can get ammo anywhere. - dan

And what about the RUM, is it an easy caliber to play with.

I had a nice Corlane built Sako/McMillan/Gaillard in 300 RUM for as long as the barrel lasted. That was a fleeting interval; but in that span I did use it culling, and shot some buffalo , an enormous scrub bull and a coastal grizzly. I found it brutally loud, only slightly faster than a Win Mag, felt like it kicked twice as much for little gain. Way too much downside for the uoside. When the barrel started wilting after 600 rounds it didn’t hurt my feeoings a bit. ;) It’s a 7-300 Win now.

I've had the WinMag, H&H, RUM, Wby and WSM.

I'm down to two .300mags right now; a .300WinMag and another .300WnMag.

Don't buy many rifles nowadays, but I do have my eye on a .300WinMag...

Im currently loading my 300wsm with 165 ttsx and get 3060 fps at the muzzle with a shortened barrel, I don't think id ever want to load much heavier than 180.
