Hey guys just purchased some hornady interlock 180 gr 30 cal projectiles to reload for my .300 win mag. There are so many powders to choose from, so i'm not sure which will preform best in my Savage 111 trophy. I'm not sure of the rate of twist in the Savage 111 trophy hunter. If you guys can suggest some good powders for this firearm and bullet type, that would be great. Thanks.

If you can find it, Reloder 22 is a very good powder for your application.. Others include: IMR 4831, IMR 7828, Norma MRP, IMR 7977, Vihtavuori N165 and N560.

Regards, Dave.

With 180 gr there is a good chance the H4831 will be a good one. I found H1000 to be better with 200 gr
+1

I used H4831 and H4831SC for 150, 168, 175, and 180gr bullets. 180gr is about the limit of that powder in a .300WM for top performance.
I have a friend who loves Retumbo and 220gr bullets in a .300WM.

I am just starting reloading for my 300wm and I have chosen IMR7828 and some Hornady 208gr Amax, although I may choose another slightly lighter round as a second load. I am also reloading for a Savage 111 and have read that they are a 1 in 10 twist. Not sure if I should risk using these Winchester Primers because of the issues seen this year....

IMR 7828 is possibly the top performer for velocity with a 180 in a 300 WM, I also got very good accuracy using it. With 3 different 300 WMs I consistently got 150-200 fps better than any other powder (this was before RL 19-22-25) I tried in the 300 WM.
