Hey guys, new to the site just wanted to get a couple posts rolling here.

I currently load for a Tikka T3 chambered in 300 win man. Currently running a 165 Gr partition as it is a hunting rifle. Does anyone have any 180 grain loads theyve tested in the same rifle?

Thanks in advance,

Buck

I’ve used 180accubonds with Reloader 22 and H1000. Last fall I worked up a load with 200 gr ELDX and Reloader 22. My rifle is also a T3 300wm.

Someone else may well have tested loads in their rifle; what they found will be almost meaningless to you for your rifle. Just a fact of life, and of rifles.

When I still had my T3 in 300 Win I used 75 grains of RL22 and the 180 Partition seated to mag length. It didn't much matter which bullet I used though, every 180 shot in that one.

A standby load for me and 300s is 80-81 grains of H1000 and a 180.

Some cartridges have long target and military histories. Patterns in powders have been established years ago.

Yea sometimes True BUT there are tried and true loads that shoot good in lots of Cartridges -RIFLES too and i think thats what hes asking for ! RJ

Yup 75 grams of reloaded 22 seams to be a constant load for a 300. just like 56 grains of 4350 in 3006 with 180's. Some load seem universal.

Just finished working up a load for my 300 Win mag 24" barrel. I used the Barnes 175 gr LRX with a max load of RL-26 lit with a Fed 215 in a RP case. Vel is an astonishing 3220 ft/sec and sub moa accuracy. I had to check my chrony with a known load to believe the vel reading.

Check out RL26. You can either run it faster than RL22, or tone it back to same speed as RL22 but with less perceived recoil

There are newer powders that can do more speed, but 4350 and a 180gr bullet seem to work very well well in most 300win rifles.

4350 is a slower but recoil drops significantly too. Compared to eighty some grains of H1000 or a case full of granulated thunder you might not think it's the same rifle.

4350 will also do a personality transplant on a 300 RUM.

Yup, agreed. My 300 bee is half MOA with a 30 cal accubond 180 gr, over IMR4350( I think 73.5-74 grains) loaded as longas possible on the hinged mag.. gives up a bit in speed, but it's super accurate

^^this^^ My 300 bee has another load using 7828 that's super accurate, a good chunk quicker, and recoils a good bit harder. That said, if you cannot handle some recoil, you shouldn't be carrying a magnum caliber

How much velocity does the 300 RUM give up using 4350?

Mine dropped from 3300 to 3150 fps beteeen H1000 and IMR 4350. My barrel was about done so i thought id rework my load and see if i could finangle a fee more out of it. Mostly because of the writeup in the Nosler manual talking up the accuracy results they got with the oddball IMR 4350. It did shoot better; while dropping the velocity to exactly what i get out of hot loaded 26" 300 Wins. Of course that didnt last forever and i made it into a 7-300. Im done with the RUM, not enough going forward to justify what was coming back and the suoer short barrel lige.

I use 7828 in my 300 bee as well. Im not overly recoil shy and am quite comfortable with cartridges with around double what the .300 Weatherby produces.

I'm just starting a project to load some reduced power 300 win ammo for a newer shooter. He went in to the LGS looking for a 30-06 as his first CF rifle, but the clerk talked him into a lightweight 300 win. He didn't understand the consequences of lightweight rifles until our first bench session. It is quite lively on the bench. He's getting some softer practise ammo for Christmas.

I'm looking for 30-06 / 308 velocity, 2700-2800 fps with 165gr bullets and either h4895 or IMR4350. 4895 looks like a better choice on QL calcs but I've read IMR4350 responds well downloaded too.
