I'm looking for a good loaand for a 300 win mag. I'm using a 168 grain HPBT my rifle has a 1:10 twist rate. It also has a 27 inch barrel. I'm looking for a good load for percesion / longranre.
I'm open to different bullets aswell.
thanks

I have had the best results with reloder 22 in mine. I Don't use that particular bullet, but with most the combination of accuracy and velocity is reloder 22

I had a .300 win mag with a Ted Gaillard 27.5" barrel 1:10 twist.
Load:
72.7gr H4831SC
Lapua Brass
200gr Sierra Match HPBT seated 10thou of the lands
Fed Match magnum Primers
The above load was producing sub .25" 5 shot groups at 100yds

168 TSX 79-81 grains of Reloader 22.I settled on 79grs because it had the best accuracy.Should be a good reference..Just as always work up to load..

I've had success with IMR 4350 and 180 gr bullets in the 300 winmag. One of the few loads that matches the published velocities in most manuals.

Try Serria bullets, well know for accuracy.

In rifles I have, I have also found that Hornady bullets are quite accurate.

Beyond that, lots of range time and studying reloading books!

I have been playing with the new 208 gn amax from hornady,in my ruger m77 hawkeye with a 24 in bbl and have shot some sub moa groups at all distances out to 600 yards with 72.5 gn of h4831 in federal cases seating about 10 thousands off the lands with a winchester primer. now I know that is not all that impressive but shooting around .5 or .6 moa with a stock ruger makes me very happy

I currently use both Hornady and Serria. I guess my other question is 168 HPBT's the best bullet to use?

I have to question why you would shoot such a light bullet in a 300?
If all you planned to shoot is 168s a 308 win would have done the job just fine.
The 300 win mag tends to thrive on 190 to 220 gr bullets especially if you are thinking long range.
2 minutes with any ballistics program will bear this out.
The 200 grain bullets will carry energy longer and keep velocity higher for alot longer than the 168s ever will.

Many of the 300s I build find great results with H4831SC or RL22 with 200 gr SMKs or 208 Amaxs

I went to Alberta tactical and that's exactly what they told me so i got 208 gr a-max with H4831SC and they shoot great out of .300...totally better than the 168.

180 gr. Rem coreloks over 75 gr. Imr 4831 work well for me and they are cheep too.
