300 Win or Ultra ??

I like the .300 Win Mag. Like others have posted, for most shots there is little difference between the two. I load a 220gr Partition @ 2858fps for most of my hunting. It is enough out to 300 yards.

How long have you been an outfitter and what kind of hunting do you do?

i would go with the ultra mag over the winchester mag simply because it's unbelted and that improves headspace and accuracy is increased

You have GOT to be kidding RIGHT??? Since when has a non belted cartridge been more accurate? Headspace is headspace, its either right or wrong. Please don't tell any of the thousands of winning 1000 yard shooters that the 300 Win Mags they shoot are not up to the task, it could be real unhealthy for someone.

Now you're talking good sense. This would be my question too, s/a's are not as accurate as bolts, not as dependable as bolts and make no sense what so ever in a hunting situation. Spray and pray a few rounds at something , that will really impress the clients.
