300 winchester magnum or 300 wsm?

I have had both 300s. I liked them both for different reasons. Heavier bullets in the WinMag and smaller rifle in the WSM. Now I am waiting for the internet to tell me what is the new "best" round to use in 2021(sarc) . Maybe a PRC or something in the current vein of long necked fat cases for seating long for caliber bullets in an appropriate twist barrel.

I have never owned a 300 WM. I do have a 300 WSM. It is a Win. M70 Super Grade, current production. I have never been nostalgic for 70 to 80 year old M70s with who knows how many rounds down the barrel. My WSM feeds flawlessly and is very accurate with 180 grain reloads. Now I am in my mid 80's the WSM is pretty much at the limit of my recoil tolerance. For this I actually prefer my .338 WM with muzzle brake. It is my favourite moose rifle.
I have a buddy who uses a 300 WM. From what I have seen in the field both cartridges are similar with equal shooters pulling the trigger.
My 2 cents worth for what it is worth.

I got lucky with both the Sako rifles I owned neither one had the Sako ejection issues, I would be upset paying that kind of money and have that problem, never owned a 700 but I don't think I have heard of feeding being a problem. Were they both 300wsm?

Oops - apologies for posting this twice, but "Yes" - both are/were 300 WSMs. The feeding problem with the Rem 700 appeared when the magazine was full (3rds) - with 2 rds, it fed fine.

Last year I put over a thousand rounds of 300win down range, and about 1000 of 308, 600 of 7x57, and 500 of 223, all in bolt guns. The 300win wins. I know the threads here are more fantasy than reality, but one thing made the 300win the king, ease of handling. At -0 to -40 even when my fat diabetic fingers were cold and numb i could grab a 300win, and load it in a nice 300 mag sized port, and ding the gong at 500m with resound. Easy to find ammo, lots of makers and loads, good rifles available, and easy round to handle. I genuinely will avoid short actions as I get older. Only thing I like the idea of more these days, is a 338wm, especially in Northern BC

....... and all the Fudds say "AMEN!". :)
