Loads of directions to start (pun totally intended) and what have you found works best? Please help me cut down on the combination. I've got a bunch of H1000 to use, but if you've found better success with something else, please shout out. I'd like to work my loader out this week and play next weekend!

This will be with a 150gr SP

*Yes, I know to work up a load from min and see what my gun likes - AND... there are good places that seem to be consistent sweet spots.

You'll have good luck with 4831, H1000, RL22... They are staple powders for the 300 WM... Just work up .5gr at a time till you get good groups or a sticky bolt... When bolt lift gets sticky you went too far, some .300's get sticky around 1gr below book max loads so as always, Work up to it....

If you want to play around and have fun try the 110gr Vmax with a liberal dose of H4895 H4350 H1000 or any other powder you have data for in that bullet weight... Great coyote/pest round... A .30cal Vmax at 3600FPS shoots like a lazer beam to 300 and is fairly reminiscent of shooting a gopher with a 55gr varmint bullet.... Pink mist... Chunks and pieces everywhere... Very humane... Like a varmint grenade performance in a .30cal...

Hotwheels81: Your post reminds me of a fella I ran into at the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation rifle range, some years ago. As I remember, he was shooting 110 grain bullets over IMR 4064 in his 300 WinMag. You're right...the bullet shot flat as a laser at 200 yards. He was going to use this load combo on deer. At the time I questioned the wisdom of this. I imagine that bullet would go off like a grenade on the deer's hide. Never did find out how successful he was. Great for gophers, though.

......some guys on predator masters forum shoot em from a RUM with the hope of seeing 4 0 0 0 flash on the chrony... I'd never use em on anything but small pest like critters tho... Some older threads out there even warn against pushing past 3400 with a fast twist barrel or they can vaporize... I stuffed a few into a .308 Norma mag a while back, sure shot good even with a mid range load of H1000... Going to try some in my next 30-06 that's for sure.
