300 wm recoil

Good thing she doesn't look like me. That would be brutal.

I've never seen your wife... but I have seen you... and your daughter is cute as a button...

And further, regarding genetic predisposition... she has a beautiful "smile..."

First thing through the door they see an unhappy looking cape buffalo staring them down. That sort of sets the tone from there.

Hmmmm..... That is a very good strategy...... If the young lad comes through the door, forgets about your daughter, compliments your mount and asks for the story he may be considered acceptable.... Providing she is home by 7:30 of course......

First time boys enter house, you should be sitting and slowly oilong a double big bore while sternly glancing towards the front door.

Great shooting and a beautiful smile.

A buddies dad had a laminate T3 in .338 Win mag split the stock from shooting when it was new

Funny; I recently lost the grip cap on my .338 T3 lite after shooting 30 something 200 grainers and 20+ 300 grainers. Glad it can`t split. So far this is the only complaint I have with the rifle. Thinking of just leaving it grip capless; they are expensive to order and I can`t find one in stock anywhere.

As for 300 WM recoil; all I can say is "meh"

That would piss me off royally...... Lol..... You are more easy going than I Connor....

I figured we would agree on the recoil level of the .300......

Well I wasn't super happy about it; but it is a rough use rifle anyways. Recently had a rust outbreak in the safe that spotted the bluing on a couple of reciever sights and the barrel of my .22; I was certainly not happy about that.

Also sort of my fault for not giving the rifle an inspection before casing it at the range.

I've been considering replacing the stock with a laminate factory stock anyways. It's so nice to carry in the foothills and mountains as is though.

I think magnum tikkas may kick more if you are using a scope instead of straight line receiver sights? The stock works well with irons. A lot of complaints may have to do with the factory recoil pad; though they are very light for 2.5 inch magnums.

I'm going to make you the retaliatory focus of all previous jack@sses that called me weak for saying my t3 light in .308 was punchy.....

Still going on about this eh? Dealing with emotional "recoil" may be a bigger issue for you than physical...

I've had it for a couple of years now I believe.

I would go through the store I bought it from; but I'm a former employee and called the manager a string of creative expletives when I was let go... Maybe I'm not as easy going as you think.

I can afford the new grip cap now anyways...

Well this thread has helped a lot as I stare at my new .300wm savage. It weighs 10lbs with the scope and I was nervous about maintaining sight picture. Have yet to shoot the thing but I am now more excited than ever. I can't see it kicking any harder than all the heavy loads I've run through the 500 and I've faired well with that.

Update: shot the .300 today, it's a kitten. Buy a gun with some mass, better to carry an extra 3 pounds of gun than to be terrified of 200gr of lead.

Not about "afford"..... I would call tikka warranty center and just ask...... From my manufacturing background, I can tell you that the tikka assembly line likely has someone sitting there with a box of 1000 grip caps that they diligently put a dab of glue on and tap in with a rubber mallet or something....... They are likely worth about a buck a piece........ So it never hurts to call and ask........

Maybe it's just me...... But it would bother me.....

You sir have a beautiful daughter. Big plus that she can shoot to!

My non-hunting seldom shooting daughter was out quadding with me out where I have my range. It went sort of like this.

M. Wanna try 800?

D. With what?

M. A .300

D. Which .300

M. Deathwind.

D. Does it have turny things on it?

M. Yep.

D. Will you turn them?

M. Yep.

D. OK.

So anyway; cold start, 7 out of eight hits. Nothing to it.

Thanks for the replys. It's interesting to see how ppl perceive recoil.
I fired off another 40 rounds. I'm liking the ultra hd scope on it. My buddy is also really starting to like the gun as well

a 300 wm + hard butt plate + tshirt + poor cheek weld = pain
same with 30-06 etc.
the recoil pad makes the most difference for me in this class of gun.

My first 300 wm my dad borrowed and didn't like the recoil so he cut the synthetic stock and rigged a limbsaver pad. I'm scared to shoot it because of how short the stock is. He says the pad made a world of difference. The factory stock fits me fine and the factory pad is decent. I'm most likely going to put this rifle into a mdt chassis. I'm thinking a LSS with an adjusting buttstock

I'll take a little more recoil before I put a floppy, sloppy, goofy, jelly-like, fuzz collecting Limbsaver on a rifle...

Limbsaver is the Croc of the recoil pad world...

Might as well add a white sweat-sock while you are at it...

And maybe a cigarette butt hanging out of the action...
