I am almost ready to start reloading for my 300WM and I have a question,Will the 300WM case be flared like a 357mag case?The dillon powder die don't seem to have any way of flaring the case for the 300 unlike the 357.Please keep in mind that I have never loaded for rifle so I would not know this.Thanks:wave: :wave:
 
I found the opposite is necessary. Most handloads, especially the bottom few in the mag, have the bullets seat further and further into the case with recoil. The necks need to be crimped snug.
 
"...case be flared like a 357mag case..." Nope. If they're new cases, you'll want to check the length of the cases first. Trim to get them all the same length then chamfer/deburr the inside of the case mouth a wee bit. Just enough to cut the sharp edge on the inside. This chamfer does the same thing as the flare on a .357 case.

I think JWK was asking about flaring, not crimping. You need to crimp a .300 hunting load, but you certainly don't need to flare the case mouth.
 
I am looking to load a all around load,hunting and a little target.I was talking about flaring not crimp. I will be loading these bullets for my Rem 700P 300WM.This gun here.:D :D

do not flare or crimp your rounds for 300wm. Don't forget to inside chamfer your brass with a vld chamfer tool, and the outside chamfer is done with the regular tool. When you're done these 2 operations, use steel wool on the case mouth to smooth it out. This only has to be done once unless you trim the brass again later.
