Hi I will make a long story short i had mold and size a big bunch of lee 170 flat tip bullet for my win 94 (a real trouble kid) but after a lot of testing i realize I have to use bigger bullet to get a minimum of accuracy (a minimum of of 0.303 for the nose and a size at 0.311 ) by the way the 312 185 gr mold of lee is perfect.

Now some one have experience to use cast bullet on a 300 wsm with fast powder to get around 1200 fps ? my rifle is a browning blr with a standard real 308 barrel and my alloy is around 15 on brinhnell chart.

300 wsm is bigger capacity than I own - also it's newer than any of my cast bullet manuals. I can only tell you that with 30 - 06 I get near minute of angle for 5 shots at 100yds with 17.5 to 20gr of H110 and a bit higher velocity than you mentioned. If you prefer a lower velocity, then try Alliant Unique starting about 10gr and working up.

.300 WSM has near identical load data to the .300WM which I have loaded quite a bit of cast in. I've often used .30-30 or .308 load data for reduced loads with jacketed bullets. As long as you stick to faster powders you're good. I've used quite a bit of Unique for lighter (900-1500fps) loads in many rifles. I don't have access to my load data where I am right now but I believe it was somewhere around 15-20gr. I tried up to 30gr of Unique in .300WM with cast and it was too fast to be accurate.

I don't know if the shoter, fatter case will cause the powder to sit on the bottom further away from the primer and maybe cause ignition issues without a filler? I never used filler in reduced cast loads; even with ~10gr of shotgun/pistol powder.

I just come back from the range, I make 2 group of 10 shoots at 50 yards not to bad the first one was 0.850 " second one was 0.750" really not bad for a blr with creep triger, I find in internet a load of 10 gr of hogdon hs 6 (i have a supply i dont use) with cci 250 primer, they show more accurate load with clays and titewad I have both I will give a try .

The only bad thing the neck of 300 wsm is so short i have to leave a lube grove out of the case but the total length fit nice on the mag, by the way I used lee liquid alox to be less messy.

there are a few different aproaches to cast bullet shooting. some use small quantities of fast pistol powder, reduced loads of medium burn rate powder, or full charges of a slower than usual powder(ie 4831 in .308). Been experimenting with 4831 in .308 around the 40 grain mark with a 185grain lee slugs with gas check and lubed with localy aqurired bee's wax/molly grease mixture. I am liking the results, around 2000fps and no leading with gas checked air cooled wheel weight alloy.
