300 WSM, a wife gun?

like i said, she handles my 7mm rem mag with ease, but she said if she has a choice, she wants less recoil.

thx for the tip sguys, i think 7mm-08 it will be, this is what im hearing most of the time.

I know it is about shot placement and such, but i have yet to see a DVD where a 7mm-08 was used , and seen a elk or moose drop at the shot, ive only seen 3 deer drop at the shot too with a 7mm-08.

My 2005 whitetail dropped like a house fell on it from my 7mm rem mag, but it was at 40 yards with 160 grain partitions, lol:D

failing to kill big game is more about bad bullet placement and/or poor bullet selection than it is about impact energy

a 7-08, properly loaded, can take any non-dangerous game in the world, not to mention deer.

Go with the 7mm-08.My wife has a model 7 7mm-08 and wouldn't trade it for anything. She is left handed shooting a right handed rifle I asked her if she wanted to pass the gun down to the kids and I buy her a left handed rifle.
She told me the kids can get thier own damn gun this one is hers. enough said.I find the cheaper bullets work good on deer ,go with the supremes for bigger game.Good luck with your decision.

I recently got a 300wsm winchester model 70 featherweight left handed and love the thing to death. Ammos isnt easy to come by on the west coast at least (i dono about you guys) and for the price its not exactly being given away but i love it to peice like i say. I am 130 pounds and i took it out for the first time with fussion 165 grain at 3160 fps and had no a problem with it! I sooner had a feeding problem finantialy than physicly! Get your wife a limbsaver pad and off to the range with ya!

Just imagine your wife's delight at a rifle that does recoil significantly less than the 7 Mag she tried...? I say the 7mm-08 is about perfect.

I discovered that a Browning Abolt 300 WSM that weighs just under 8 lbs scoped is definitely NOT and 175 lb 17 year olds gun. On Saturday, My son found the gun very difficult to shoot, it didn't hurt him, but he was flinching by round 5. We stopped.

I am 19 and 130 lb's and the only look on my face is of sheer joy with my mod 70. I love magnum ammunition, and I love the short mag. I am gona get my rifle bedded the barrell floated and the trigger spring is gona be backed off. I took it out and my groupings were close to that of my .22 lr. Spot on rifle!
