300 WSM and h4350

I've used both....my best loads with 180's with r-19 was with large rifle primers...my best loads with imr4350 is with magnum primers. Only experimenting will tell...each rifle is different.

Thanks guys,
I was just wondering if it was useful to spend money on trying to get good results with a large rifle primer...! Answer seems to be it could be working well.

Last question for this post...! Other than bad precision, is there some clues that don't lie about having the wrong primer? Sound, delay?

Ghys,

Ghys,

Extreme velocity spread, standard deviation in velocity, and poor groupings.

The differences may not be as apparent in warmer temps, but it could be more obvious in the cold.

I've used both and got better groups with regular large rifle primers so that is what I use....haven't seen the need for magnum primers in a WSM with any of the powders I've used ... I guess if you are using ball

Using large rifle primers or magnum primers has nothing to do with the cartridge name. Magnum primers are about the powder used. Hodgdon suggests using magnum primers with H4350.
