300BLK Build Begins - And Ends

Thanks, yes calibrated specifically for 300blk, supposedly using Remington 120gn UMC ammo from what I've read elsewhere. But the "Spot On" app allows you to calibrate for just about anything, including handloads if you have chronograph results - all of which can be plugged into the app interface to allow for varying zero and shooting distances. All my shooting will be 200M and less, so figured the 2-7 would work well there. Red dots just don't work with my older eyes anymore lol.

P.S. Nikon "Spot On" screenshots, looks pretty handy - how well it works or not for me remains to be seen:

What'd you use for checking headspace?

I'm almost finished putting mine together :)

If you build your AR from quality parts you don't need to check headspace. It is not adjustable like a bolt action so as long as the parts are in spec the headspace will also be in spec. What I was told by a very experienced and well known firearms manufacturer was that if it will chamber a round it is good.

Do you guys know if there is a steady source of over the counter supersonic 300 blackout ammo in Canada?
I see sfrc has some but not sure how steady supply will be if I do a 300 blackout build as a hunting worthy NR gun.

Seems to be a steady supply at a few of the shops in Edmonton.
What are you going to "build" as a NR 300BLK?

It's a new Noveske upper and a new NEA barrel (for their short comings I haven't heard if them having barrel issues) then I'll like be going with a Stag Arms bcg.

I'm thinking it'll probably be good hut thought I'd check here with the wealth of experience much more vast than my own .

True North Arms has a loaner program; cost ~$20 for use of their go no-go gauges. But like CR5 said I'm not overly concerned, just anal about stuff lol.

LGS has some limited selection, but I'll be loading my own is my plan.

P.S. I'm still waiting on some bits and pieces; do have the handguard sent out for cerakoting to match the upper/lower though - that'll take a few weeks to get back from Black Box as mine will have to set in queue for awhile.

I was looking at their loaner program, but it's currently out and I'm impatient, lol.

Mind if I post mine here once it's completed? My intention isn't to derail (and to be honest yours will be nicer) but I'd like to share with the class and this seems like an appropriate place.

Hey there's no "derailing" or "nicer", post away :) - would love to see your final results too, I'm just learning as I go also!

Build as in people "building their house by talking to an architect" LOL, ACR debating between 223 vs 300 blackout vs something else.

Ordered my BCG today, then I should be ready to shoot :)

My charging handle will have to do double duty with my 5.56 upper until I decide which one to get though.

Good stuff, keep an eye on the EE...put you no doubt know that anyway.

That's actually where most of my build came from, lol. There are some things on the EE where the prices dictate that buying new is the wiser choice. I'm deciding between another raptor ch (which is what I'm happy with and running on my IUR) or a Geiselle Super Charging handle/Noveske Super Bad Ass charging handle. Under normal circumstances I'd just get a raptor and call it a day, but apparently the Geiselle design is better for running suppressed.

I just missed out on a NIB Raptor on the EE when initially sourcing some stuff; seller had it on for just over 1/2 price and I was late by a few mins. Everyone knows the good deals when they see 'em of course, so those don't last long.

I got mine NIB off the EE about a year ago for I think 100 bucks. I'm happy with it, it will cut your fingers up though, lol. True North Arms has them $129.77 and they only charge 6 or 7 bucks shipping anywhere in the country. I was really happy with my service from them last week. May be something to consider.

Actually I did get one new along with a BCG from CTC not long after missing out on the EE, just waiting on my barrel, stock (should be here in a few days) and handguard now - the later will be awhile yet due to the cerakoting backlog at Black Box.

Good stuff. I'm just waiting on my bcg (should be here Wednesday) I'll try to get it to the local smith to check headspace. Failing that I'll likely just roll the dice. Either way I'll likely be checking for function this weekend.

Here's what I've got thus far (sorry in advance for the picture quality)

Pre-assembly. Big thank you to jg007 and dendro for the wicked deals on the Noveske handguard and upper receiver respectively. Also a big shout out to the guys at True North Arms, great prices and super fast shipping. I hope I can do business with them again in the future. These are all the parts that I brought with me to work on Friday to get it all put together.

and here it is where it will spend most of its time along with my IUR:

Now I'm just waiting for my Stag Arms nickel boron BCG from Arms East. They're super awesome and had it out this morning so I should have it by Wednesday :)

Looks good, congrats! I had some odds 'n ends from True North Arms too and like you said - good to deal with and would do so again.

waiting for an upper receiver to finish my 300 blk build. Will be using my current lower for now until I get another lower put together.
