300BLK Build Begins - And Ends

Buy yourself a brass catcher, I bought one and a bunch of the mounts so I can use it on all my semi's.
I have the 3 Bucc brass catcher, it works really well but I don't know who carries them in Canada anymore.

Edit- found it http://www.4gt.ca/3bucc/

Good idea.

One of the vendors I really like dealing with has these for a measly 15 bucks:

Velcros around the handguard so it'll fit any AR. I'm wondering if it'll perform adequately and let me keep the extra 70 bucks in my pocket.

I have one of those as well, the velcro will eventually wear out but they work.

Cool.

I think I'l give the cheapie a whirl because I'm planning to order a couple other odds and ends from the same vendor anyways. On a brass catcher related note I got yelled at by an old fudd at the range today while sighting in the optic on my 5.56 upper, lol.

What did he not like? Brass flying at his head?

Didn't like that my friend and I were both shooting AR's if we're being honest. He probably didn't realize that I saw the mortified look on his face when I uncased mine 2 stalls over from him. He also probably doesn't realize that with few exceptions my gun will eject it's brass in a 4-5 o'clock position at a distance of about 4 feet. 6-7 feet total if rolls after its bounce. The only way my brass could hit him would be if it had bounced off of the table next to me, and then hit him.

Anyways, I got through a single 5 round mag before he was "Hey! Hey! Your brass is hitting me!" My initial instinct was to laugh and tell him "Well, we are at a gun range." but I'm probably a little more polite than I should be and offered to trade stalls with my buddy to my left. While trading spots my friend I was with mentioned to me that he'd watched me go through the mag and that nothing had hit the guy. Later on I overheard the same guy telling another shooter that anyone who shoots semi autos was "wasting their time. It's just burning money" with the exception of Ruger 10/22's because "they come with target barrels" I called him a Fudd because he was dressed pretty close to how Elmer Fudd actually dressed, lol. He was shooting a single shot, wood stocked .22lr for anyone wondering.

That's pretty sad....world is full of fools unfortunately.

I found it particularly funny because when I was in the pro shop after shooting on Friday I reached into my pocket and pulled out a spent 9mm casing that belonged to one of my neighbours on the pistol range. I had a bit of a chuckle about it and one of the employees said "Comes with the territory at a range" Fast forward 12 hours to "Your brass is hitting me!" guy, lol.

Just arrived, have everything now except the compensator (ODIN 7 back-ordered) and that hand-guard at Black Box.

Tunable gas block, it and the barrel are also marked for easy alignment...

Looks good, you shouldn't "need" the adjustable gas block but it certainly won't hurt and it's always nice to be able to fine tune.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I've never had anyone that ignorant say something to me at the range but I would have liked to have been there, I think what he needs is to watch my ACR with NR 300BLK conversion print a sub moa 100yd group then I'd offer to let him shoot it to show that you're not wasting your time with a semi and we're all just friendly gun lovers.

Thanks! This is what ODIN calls their "tunable" gas block, where you set it up initially for your ammo of choice and then leave it - not a true adjustable setup that you can mess with over and over. They make one of those too, but this is their entry level block that they include with every barrel. As I'll only be using light supers, and at just over $300 for a barrel and gas block, works for me :) .

19.4gr of H110 under a 110gr V-max was my mass production load, shot decently in all my 300BLK rifles.

Haven't been able to find anything lighter than 125gr, without looking too hard just yet - but have some of those (Speer TNT) to load for initial function testing. Will make note of that info though for when I do track down some, thanks!

...and well patience was never a strong point lol, so put some other stuff on the back burner and put the lower together. Pretty straight forward with only one fackkk moment with installing the front take down pin. Took awhile to find that damn detent, first time. Box in place caught it the second time, and third time was the charm. Didn't hurry, watched a YT vid as I went and again went pretty smooth - everything seems to function as it should, the PNT trigger seems decent (but then everything seems decent when you're used to a Tavor's trigger lol). Now just need that upper and handguard back from Black Box to finish it all up.

Fascinating. I'm going with a H2 in mine (as it's what was already in the lower) in my research it sounded like an appropriate weight so I didn't bother researching any further.

One reason I went with a lot of ODINWorks stuff (this stock/buffer setup is theirs also) is it's all matched to work together - remains to be seen of course, but I gotta wait some more for that part yet...damnit lol.
