Hi all I'm looking for some 300great loads using h110 and bullet barn hard cast 300gr projectiles. Load data I'm finding is either for jacket or soft lead. I'm looking to push these through a ranch hand. Any first hand experience would be great.

I use 21 grs ( MAX) H110 with a 300 gr-ers in my Ruger SBH ! Nice shooting load ! RJ

I gave up on 300 grain bullets in .44 RM... 240's are a better weight for the case capacity, IMO... but when I shot them, it was with 20.0 H110 in a Ruger 77/44... seating out required single loading.

I used to shoot competitive silhouette matches with big pistols, where shooting was to 200 metres. I owned, and shot quite extensively, five different 44 Rem mag revolvers, two S x W and three Ruger Super Blackhawks, plus I have my second Marlin 44 mag lever action rifle.
I taught two grandsons rifle shooting with the Marlin in 44 mag. I started when they were about ten years old, cousins within a few months of the same age. I loaded the 44 real light to start with and they just loved the bang, a bit of smoke from the bullet lubrication and a big hole in the paper. As they got bigger I loaded heavier, until we were up to full power, and practicing repeat shooting with the butt not leaving the shoulder and most all of the shooting we did was off hand, standing.
I always used the 240 grain (approximately) weight Keith style bullet. I think they are the most efficient weight bullet for the 44 mag, because after all, Elmer Keith did a lot of research on developing a bullet for the cartridge he basically designed. I also used the original load he developed for the cartridge, 22 grains of Hercules 2400 powder. I also used H110, 24 to 25 grains to equal the velocity of 22 grains of 2400. This gave up to 1,500 fps in a good, tight revolver and 1,750, or a hair more, in the Marlin rifles.
However, the rifling in the Marlin rifles is one turn in 38 inches, which is really iffy for the 240, or so, grain bullets.

What's the barrel twist on your Ranch Hand?
