300H&H finally on it's way!

Selling this was a bit of a surprise to me as well. I wasn't planning on selling it as I was very happy with the rifle as it turned out. I didn't even get a chance to shoot it.

I bought a piece of land last year, so funds are being diverted. Given this, I have been seriously downsizing the herd over the last couple of years, trying to keep only guns I will use and enjoy owning. This 300 was one of them, but a couple of unexpected bills to the tune of $2K showed up on my doorstep at the same time I was given and opportunity to sell this rifle for close enough what I had into it. That and the fact that I have other 30cals in a .308 and 30/06 gave me the go ahead to sell, and Dave really was interested in owning a classic, so out the door it went. :)

As a foot note to all of this ....... I'd like to say that dealing with Dave on this one has been one of the BEST transactions I have done on CGN. He does what he says he is going to do, when he says he is going to do it, with GREAT communications and is a nice guy to boot! What else is there?? :D

A super 30 stoked with 200gr pills is great for what roams the rocks, as well as what roams in the willows below too. I think you know what I mean. ;) ;)

I know what you mean though, I might just have to bring this one along.

I can attest to this too. Dave has offered to help me out many times, without expecting anything in return. Between all the trades we have made the last few months we have kept eachother very busy, and in debt!:p

I can't wait to see that rifle chasing rams this fall. At least if he does pack this one, we will stay away from the deep water crossings. I think Dave knows what I mean when I say that!:p

Paul, when you get out this way we will have a pow wow. Maybe Davey will let you reunite with your old 300, if only for awhile.;)

You mean you DID like that rifle! You are on the slippery slope of wood and blued metal. I have seen the signs. The calibers you are packing won't let you carry anything less. Better trade in that Savage for a Model 54. Resistance is futile!
 
It's a beaut! Classic caliber, you have excellent taste!

I confess I don't have the same sort of taste though - some little voice in my head tells me that a 300H&H is a waste of a full-length magnum action - a 338 weatherby or ultramag would fit in there!

Nothing wrong with having different tastes. How boring would this place be if we all liked the exact same things.

This rifle will do all I need it to.......

Very, very nice. Jason at Gunco does great work. I have a .300H+H built from a M1917(P17) and most recently a Winchester Model 70 (1954). Must get them out to the range.
