For the people mentioning 50m smallbore, is that generally done indoors? When I see the pics/vids from the Olympics, it looks that way...

It looks like indoors because the ranges have covered firing points. While a lot of ranges in Europe are baffled, the ones here are quite open and that 40gr bullet gets blown around a lot. Talk to the guys that recently shot at the Nationals in Calgary.

Freeman, the only time we shoot indoors is in the winter time... for practice.

(That last shot is kind of interesting... in a fun and twisted kind of way... The shooter kind of forgot his cheek piece at home, so he 'improvised' one in order to shoot the match )

One would think the bullets find the center without the need of a cheek piece on a $6000 gun (Bleiker)
