hey i have a 300 win mag for moose hunting and i was wondering what gr of bullet i should use. somthing that can do the job but with minimun meat damage?

Hi. It isn't so much the weight as it is the construction of the bullet and the shot placement. Accuracy out of your rifle is far more important than meat damage. Any good hunting bullet, I'd be thinking 165 to 180 grains, placed in the heart/lung area will do nicely.

As sunray indicated, boiler shots mean little meat damage, generally.

As the 300 has a good bit of velocity, lots of guys favor tougher bullets like Partitions, Accubonds and TSX's. You really could not go wrong with these. Personally I have also taken lots of animals with Sierra Gamekings in several different calibers; they aren't a bonded bullet so they get less respect than the bonded bullets generally do, however. 200 grain Gamekings in a 300 win mag is a very serious combination for big game though.

i Havnt shot any big game with it yet beucase it is a new purcase but just for sighting in purpose i use cheap amo such as remington cor lok buti also know sighting in you should use the same weight and brand of bullets so im debating on what im gona go with

Go with the same core-loks, most of the more expensive bullets are just hype.

Not just the same brand and weight of bullet,the actual load that you will be hunting with.

Hornady Interbond is a reasonably priced bullet that will retain mass at magnum velocities.

i know one guy with a 300 win mag that uses the hornady 220 grain round nose .very impressed with it .
