300win to 270wby

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has ever done a long action (300 win) rem 700 rebarrel to a 270 weatherby? Will the feed rails need alteration to work? How about the bolt face? I see weatherby lists there magnum bolt face 1 or 2 thou. different than a standard magnum bolt face. Will the chamber need to have as much freebore as a factory weatherby? I assume this would be a fairly straight forward job but......am I missing anything? Any info would help.

It should work fine with a new barrel...

You can test it before hand by simply loading the magazine up with 7mm Rem Mags or .270 Weatherby Mags and see how they feed...

The bolt face will be fine, I did this on a Win 70 action a while back. Feeding shouldn't be an issue either, they aren't THAT fussy, usually. It's a good idea to keep the factory freebore, otherwise when you use factory ammo in it (particularly the Norma made stuff) you will most likely have some serious overpressure issues. - dan
