I certainly wouldn't be the one firing that rifle.

unless the rifle has a 30" tube neither would I:eek:

He must be confusing the 300 WM with the 300 WSM. ;)

I know quite a few guys who regularly get 3200 with 180s in their 300 Win mags, nut no one gets even close to that in their 300 Win Short Magnum.

if he is confusing wsm with wm a charge of 68 grn of imr 4350 wouldn't get a 180 moving 3000 fps in a 300 wm. would need 72 or 73 grns minimum.

I recently purchased a Kimber 8400 in 300WSM. This is the group I got from my first box of factory ammo

It's soooo nice to shoot a gun that's accurate right out of the box!

Recoil is stiff but very manageable. A good recoil pad is recommended.

I think it is wrong to compare the 300 WM with the 300 WSM on the basis of velocity alone. If every fps is critical, then by all means shoot the 300WM. On the other hand, my 300 WSM Kimber is just under 8 pounds, with scope, and fits in a regular sized gun case. I can give up a few fps for a gun that's handy and comfortable to carry all day. Both cartridges have their pros and cons. The 300 WSM just gives us more options in the .308 category.

Good ctg & good rifle. Wouldn't trade my .300 Win Mag for one, though...

I have a savage 16FSS in 300WSM and all is I can say is OUCH!!!!!!!!
but a 3shot group all touching is worth the pain . It heats up fast though

Three shots touching is always a good thing, no matter the pain to get there... ;)
