300wsm powder?????help

Hello thought I'd get some reloading advice from some of the experts on here. I am looking for advice on a super accurate powder for my 300wsm. I am shooting 185gr Berger vld with a 12" twist barrel. I have tried r17 and r19 and accuracy has been poor.any help would be greatly appreciated.

4831 SC works great for me.

Maybe try Rl 17, its supposed to be good in the shortmags. Rl 25 is what I use in my 7wsm and it works really well.

The berger vld have a reputation of being seating depth sesitive. I would play with that variable, and try one of the 4831's. Three powders and running a few seating depths I would go to a different bullet.

H4350, I wonder if the 185 gr Berger might be a bit long?

I found the best bullet weight for the WSM was 165.

I use IMR4350 and have used 4831 with 180 accubonds with great results !

You have to ask your rifle. There's really no other way. So try an assortment of powder with an appropriate burning rate with the bullet of your choice.

H4831SC works the best for me with 180-200gr bullets. RL17 will make it go fast. Rl22 and RL25 are worth looking at. H4350 works too, and is my choice for 150-165gr bullets

As mentioned, your rifle will tell you what it likes - I have two WSM's, 300 and 325, and the best performance/accuracy was with imr4007 then followed by R17 - in the 300, 165 & 180, start at 62gr and work up -
I did the round robin, or OCW gig, and it saved me a bunch of time. My tikka did not like 165 Horn or TTSX, but was well under MOA with the 180 NAB, so thats what I stuck with - my load thru my gun gave me 3000fps with the 180.

I wanted to shoot the 180gr accubombs but my gun just said no. It's a Sako A7 stainless by the way. I got the 155gr berger vld to shoot well in mine with 4350.
