is there a powder and meassurment that will push a 180grn tip at a subsonic speed
if you know one that is safe what is it

my reloading software only goes from 2600fps-3000fps.
you should remember that the WSM was intended to match the full length magnums in performance, just in a "short" action. There doesnt seem to be any reason it cant be done, but this is asking to backwards on one of the best advancements to cartridges in the last 20 years.
There is only one reason I can think of you wanting a sub-sonic round....
 
Sub sonic loads are great for practice and small game. Good for pest control, too.

I've must started making some 30-30 sub sonics wiht cast 165gr bullets and Trailboss Powder.

They dont' recoil at all, don't sound very loud, but penetrate fairly well. (No expansion)

I've been htinking abou ttrying to get a subsonic 300WSM load for my rifle, and carry them for knocking the heads off of grouse.

So far, I haven't tried any loads, mostly becuase I haven't found any really good info about sub sonics in larger cases, and I don't want to blow my gun up :)

Reduced loads using 60% H 4895 is an option, although probably won't take it sub sonic.
 
300 Wsm

The 300 WSM will barely knock the head off a grouse with full power loads.:p The good thing is they're so efficient you can load them down to 3-4 grs.:D

Actually what I wanted them for was to keep for the yotes and badgers
then I only need to carry one gun in the truck
