300wtby mag ...who's using

triple tap for ya eh?
been happening to me alot too...dunno what the hell is up with that, get some damn "DEBUG Mode error"

I'll keep her and try it out for sure...have some dies on the way,and will scoop up some brass eventually.....should be fun...will let ya know how she works

I shoot a 300wby really like it. I found the kick to be less then my 30-06 featherweight mod 70. Beautiful gun.Wouldn't be afraid to use it on any animal in N.A. Start reloading though the shells aren't cheap to buy.

the gun was in a factory box marked 300 Winchester Magnum...I paid for it before...me and the sales guy took her out to have a look at it...got checking it over and noticed the barrel had "Use only 300 Weatherby Magnum"....

Holy Crap! It is a good thing that you looked at the small print on the barrel before you tried to ram a .300 Win Mag in her!!!! What a nasty jam!

quote]

A 300 Win Mag will not "jam" a 300 Weatherby.....chances are Bob wouldn't have noticed anything unusual until looking at the fired case,...it would look like a 300 Wtby with a very short neck.... ...it's been done many times...even on purpose :D

difference in the cost of brass....about $7 pre 50 pcs...not enough to choke Bob.....

Great cartridge for Canada. Weatherby name brand ammo is expensive however the Hornady, and Remington loads are pretty much in line with the rest.

I wouldn't cheap-out on the actual bullets for this or any similiar hot cartridge.

My factory Rem.700 has only a 24" barrel and I'm getting 3100fps+ with 180's using RL22.

How come my factory 24" Rem 700 300 Win Mag does 3100 with a 180 pushed by 74 grs of IMR4831....?

How much Rel22 are you putting in your 300 Wtby?..you should be able to get 3200...I did with my M70..

Your gonna make me look it up.

Can't recall what chrony I used and it's been a few years. It's not really a rifle I shoot much.

Using Frontier Brass (Hornady), Fed. match primers. 180 Hdy and Nosler Partitions performed almost identically.

81 grs of RL22 or 82 grs of H4831sc both gave me 3050 fps.

--------------------------------------------

With Barnes 165 XBT, remington brass.

85.0 grs of RL22 gives 3280 fps.
84.5 grs of H4831sc gives 3170 fps.

Well....got back form the range.....
took me 5 shots to sight in and zero it where I wanted it,.....I did one 3 shot group with it at 100 meters...hovered around the 1 inch mark or just a bit more, but close enuff for me,I tried at 250 meter group for 3 shots, about 3.5 inches was the group, this was just out of curiosity(plus I remembered my glasses), 2 were the same height, about an inch and a half apart, the third went about 2 inches higher, but right inline, connect the dots to make a nice little triangle,I surprised myself  ...was a bit drafty out....anyway,I was using Federal Factory ammo with 180 Nosler partitions...the recoil was not that bad at all...I was pleaseantly surprised :D ........now I just have to try it out on a mulie tonight hopefully

I got mine in the Mark V Ultra-lite with 26" fluted barrel in late '05 and absolutely love it. I put a Leupold 3.5-10 on it and it hasn't let me down since. I use 180 gr. Noslar Partitions and so far they've downed a 2500lb buffalo, cow moose and cow elk with very little trouble. The bullets are a little pricey and if you have the ability to reload then go ahead, otherwise you better be a crack shot or it may break the bank. Overall- Nice Gun

Buy Remington Brass (less costly and last quite a while)and get at it....So it burns a little more powder.....Just remember, you're shooting a WEATHERBY !!!
It'll kill any any game animal in North America with power to spare.
Love my DeLuxe Mk V .300 Weatherby Magnum.....

Love the smell of Weatherby in the morning,,,it smells like,,,VICTORY!!:D

I used to own a German made 300 Wby 300 in the 24" light contoured barrel. i have never shot a more violent kicking SOB in my life. it had trouble attaining 3050 f/s in the 180s which I got in my 300 win, so I sold it. My hunting partner uses a 300 in a fibermark 26" tube and has an excellent record on many species of game. It really all depends on the rifle as to whether you will like your Wby 300.

I also have a German made Mark V .300 WBY only this one is left handed and I love this gun. I have shot many deer, moose and 2 elk with this rifle and it hasn't let me down.

Since I've gotten into LR shooting the last couple of years I rarely shoot this gun anymore but every time I pull it out of the safe I realize how much of a beautiful rifle it really is.

Here is a link to the Weatherby #### thread, there are pics of it there.
