303 brit ammo getting harder to find

Saw a guy at the Cranbrook gun show today with a sealed crate/container/can? of 303 British. I forget the round count and couldn't figure out what to type into Google to find this ammo. I stole an image from Google here to show what I saw today, but sealed. It had a price tag of $500 on it (I can only imagine what they were sold for 50 years ago!)

$17.50 for one, $15 for two, $12.50 for five or $6 per crate if you purchased a whole pallet.

There were two of those cans in a wooden crate. Each can was hermtically sealed. Depending on where they came from, some opened like the one in your pic, some had spam can openers and some opened from one end and were pulled back with a similar tab. They could be a bugger to open without some sort of lever.

I purchased three pallets of those from a dispersal sale in 1967, out of the US. It was cheaper and easier to buy the ammo in Washington (state) than it was to pick it up from Canadian government sales. I guess the buyer in Washington bought them by the rail car full.

Allen Lever and I filled a tractor trailer with that stuff.

I sold the last can I had in Chilliwack a couple of years ago, which was half a crate. Don't remember the price. I still have the crate for the doubles and a crate for the single can. They are steel lined and make for great storage containers.

Found a bunch of FN produced 303 in an estate sale. In 50rnds brown cardboard boxes anyone know anything about it ?

I had some, looked shiny and new with some red (If I remember correctly) primer sealant. I'm fairly certain it was berdan primed. It was no better or worse for accuracy than anything else I've fired

Cabela's Edmonton had about 50 boxes of winchester last week. Think it was $60/ box, first time they've had any in a long time

Haven't found any for a couple of years until today in a local store, both 174 grn. Sellier Bellot and 180 grn. Winchester all FMJ .

Grizz

I recently saw some Remington FMJ stuff on the shelf for $35. In 2023, that and PPU are as good as it gets.
