About to do some further accuracy testing on a new to me No.4 mk1 and a 91/30 with some handloads, have a lb of IMR 4320 and figured it would be a good use of this now discontinued powder. After a bit of searching I found some load data in a couple older Lyman, Speer, Hornady manuals.
I know a few of you have used 4320 in .303 with good results, what powder loads have you found that worked well? 37.5gr-41.5gr seems to be the average start-max load range with hornady going as low as 34.3gr.
I’m mainly trying to see if I can improve accuracy with some more appropriate dia bullets that I have on hand (.311”-.312”) than work up a load, so I don’t want to use the other powder I have for this test. Seeing as I won’t be able to get 4320 outside of old stock it seems like an appropriate use for the lb I have, both .303 Brit and 7.62x54r list it as appropriate.
