Haven't used this gun for about 10 years tok it out of storage this weekend to target practice.
All the cartridges coming up from the left side of the clip jam and severely dent and cut the front left side of the bullet.Cartridges coming up from the right side of the clip go into the chamber perfectly.
Any thoughts...wondering if it could be the tabs at the front of the clip somehow bent when we moved out here?

Yes that would be my guess. It would be a good idea to watch for any hard contact points from the feeder lips "as I call them" on the cartridge and check for any burrs elsewhere in the body of the mag ect.

Sorry If I'm not more help, perhaps some experts could come along and save you some grief.

Did you store it with the Mag in the rifle? or was it separate? Enfield actions are pretty simple so if your mag is seated properly and the spring/plate in the mag are ok....it maybe a damaged mag. Do you have a second? definitely try a second mag...either borrow from a friend to test or purchase...they're not too pricey. But atleast you'll get a quick answer....
Good Luck

It will be a feed lip issue. Search .303 british on google with enough effort a pic of how the feed lips are supposed to look will come up. I wish I still had the web address but I don't. I have saved many Mags with this pic as a reference. Remember this gun was designed to feed pointed hard jacketed military rounds. Soft points can be a bear.

cheers Darryl

I have exactly the same problem with my No5. It IS the mag. I bought a replacement mag and it works perfectly. I tried bending the front lips to get it to work right and I'm still having problems with it.. I'll keep trying though.

Your on the right track with the "bend the lips thing" use round or smooth needle nose pliers and work a little at a time ,they will take a lot of bending up and down before they break{ the normal cause is some old boy that shows you how to install the mag by inserting it and then giving it a real good bang to make sure it is home]

I think you may have hit it right on the head...I did lend it to my son a few years back and he tends to bang the clips into place.Thx

"...he tends to bang the clips..." Take away his TV priviledges. No movies either.
Needle nosed pliers work well. Usually doesn't take much tweaking of the mag lips to fix it either. Look at the rear lip too. The mag lips should be a mirror image of each other.
