303 British FMJ

Reloading is really the best way to go when it comes to 303 British these days.

Yupp. Do some research, and you'll find that 7.62x39 and 7.62x54r can be found cheap and pulled apart for components. I'll leave figuring out how much powder to use up to you, but I'll tell you that the full case of x54r is too much powder.

Cabelas has their Herter's lineup of ammo. It includes .303, but bafflingly they don't import that caliber in particular to Canada. .30-06 in that lineup is $22 bucks a box. No reason .303 wouldn't be, if they brought it in. I emailed them, no response. If everyone on this site did the same, they would listen. I wouldn't mind buying .303 soft point for $1.10 a round.

Sure. And get some primers while you are there:

Do they? I didn't see it on Cabelas.com...

I think Western Metals was toying with the idea of re-manufacting .303, not sure if they ever actually decided to do it.

Show off...lol. How long have you been sitting on that?

My Dad asked me a few years ago if I wanted a "box" of .303. I said "sure". Didn't realize I'd have to haul a crate out of his basement but it was worth it.

I think he picked it up in the '90's.

I have no doubt there's millions of rounds of surplus .303 in basements and garages around the country.

yes see them just before hunting time in 20 round boxes with a few missing in each box and some berdan primed ones ... see them in the brass buckets at the club the odd time
