HAS THERE BEEN ANY INDICATION WETHER THIS PROGECT OF HAVING A SPECIAL RUN OF 303 BRIT. IN THE RUGER # 1's WILL EVER TAKE PLACE? I HAVE NOT HERD MUCH ON THE SUBJECT OF LATE ,AND HAVE PROMISED TO BY 2 OF THESE AND i NEVER GO BACK ON MY WORD, PLEASE LET US KNOW IF THERE IS A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL OF THIS HAPPENING, THANKS DALE IN T-BAY:confused:

I don't think it is a really big deal for Ruger. Expect them to take as long as they want to think about it and do it. Closer to our end, there is SakoAlberta of this forum, aka Clay at board sponsor Prophet River Firearms. Don't doubt he is keenly aware of the possibility that if he can persuade Ruger to make them, he can sell about 250 guns that he wouldn't otherwise. He'll be keeping on top of that.

Wasn't a dealer on here saying something about how savage would do custom runs of as few as 20 rifles? that might be another option.

Has anyone contacted Remington about a 303 British run? They may be a little quicker to the plate then Ruger. The thoughts of a CDL or ADL 700 in 303 British get me a warm feeling!:D

I don't think it would be feasible to make a Remington 700 in .303, at least not at a price anyone would be willing to pay. Rigby made some Mauser-actioned rifles in .303, but they had a special slanted magazine box to accommodate the rimmed, highly tapered cartridges.

Yes, it looks very good for it to happen. I know its quiet now but we are getting closer to knowing if it will be a special run or on the line.

I wonder why Remington would be any more expensive than Ruger?

.303 British?American

I believe that there would be extra cost in making the magazine function with the large rimmed cases, where as the Ruger is a single shot without mag. and being rimmed, should make for easy extractor set up.

The Ruger is a falling block single shot which is ideally suited to rimmed cartridges. The difficulty with a Remington 700 would be to design a magazine box that would work with the .303; something I can't see being done for such a limited production item.

.303

Have a Greener Mauser in .303, but am down for one of the Ruger #1's if they come to reality. Apparently one of the Ruger rep's at the Edmonton show last week knew nothing of the .303 #1 request when asked by my local shop employee that was there. Hey lets start another "quest": Who's in for a Winchester Supergrade in .300 H+H??? While we're at it how about a .375 H+H and .416 Rigby. They could call them the "Safari Supergrade" series or something.
Just dreaming.....Geoff.
Here's my W.W. Greener Mauser in .303 British as requested.

A Supergrade 300 H&H, I'd be in on that !

They seem to make the 220 Swift work, albeit semi-rimmed but with a fairly substancial taper to the case. You would probably only need the mag to hold 3 or 4 rounds. I e-mailed Remington today just for a laugh and asked how many rifles to make a special run, and told them the calibre I want. I can imagine the looks on their faces when I said 303 British:eek:
