303 Bulk Ammo

I'm presently researching for a supplier who has the required license to export out of the USA (not easy to find) as Canadian citizen there's no need for permit other than regular firearm license to import up to 5000rounds. You do need to check for the country of origine.
The Canadian Rangers have not yet received their Sako rifles yet so they don't know what will happen of the rifles nor the ammunition (I checked).
I'm in contact with Tula ammunition in Russia (manufacturer of Wolf ammo) but they don't do it anymore.
I'm trying to get a hold of Norinco to see if they'd manufacture some (I know probably lost cause but worth trying), I've delt with chinese before.

I'm mainly trying to find ammo for myself but it seems there's a good amount of people who'd want some I'll let you know if I find something.

Tula and Wolf devorced a couple years ago. Norc does not make 303.

We have contacted LVE for pricing.

Has anyone considered the legal reloaders in Canada as a way to get cheaper rounds out there.

I know there are guys that have legal reloading for 9mm, 40 S&W and 45 ACP.

brass supply is the issue

I can see that, the brass does not last either, stupid oversized chambers.

I think the best bet is reloading with harvested components from russian stuff, that and scouring gun shows.

If Wolf stuff does end up being sold here I would not be surprised if it gets up over $1 a shot and at that we can buy S&B for $28/20, PPU for $26.20 and winchester grey box can still be had for $33/20.

Gone are the days of dime a shot 303, I see that happening with 7.62x51, 7.62x54R and to a lesser extent 7.62x39 in the not so distant future.

It will be a while for x39, but yes, the halcyon days of surplus are done.

I know that at one point in Canada we thought the supply would never end either but that stuff is drying up fast.

Some day the AK will not be used as it is today and the supply will dry up, but that could be a while, maybe 50 years, maybe 100 years.

There are fewer plants making ammo, and in smaller quantity. The surplus stocks are being used in the mid-east conflicts at a huge rate, and consumed by shooters. Even a Billion rds does not last long at that rate. A billion rds would take a convential production line, running one shift, 100 years to produce.

I've read the Russians, in a single plant had 12 production lines making 180 rds/min each, so in 10 minutes a single line was cranking out 1800 rounds, and the factory at 21 600 in 10 mins. If that's running at what I'm assuming would be pretty long days (12 hrs?) you get the idea a single factory could supply an army. And I have no idea how many factories there were in Russia, let alone China.

Anyways, I've always meant to ask but never got around to it, why is Wolf not as massively imported into Canada as the US? Tula is here, so why isn't Wolf? I'd love to get my grubby little paws on some WMC 123g HP at $300/1K for 7.62x39. And yes, on the topic of .303, I'd buy some with ZERO hesitation.

The Russian plants ran depending on demand during the cold war. Soviet shift length was not overly long, mainly due to the law on paper and "total employment" in practice. The plants are shadows of their former selves now. Maybe the "modul" line would do 1800rpm, but not a standard rotary line. They max out about 240rpm on a good day. The Russian ammo plants are a thread un to themselves.
Wolf has never had much interest selling into Canada. Also, as they are a middleman, the cost is higher buying from them. The Wolf factories supply importers directly into Canada, such as LVE, Barnaul, etc anyhow.

PS re-read your post, yes, the plant might do 2100rpm if running all 12 lines

All I know is I want Wolf everything now...if you have any ability to get the Military Classic line imported, please for the love of god do it. We all need more NC 7.62, I'd literally kick a baby for some. But on the topic, seriously, I think the .303 would sell pretty darn well. I got a P14 sporter in a trade for a $300 savage 22. God only knows how many other cheap, bubba, Enfield types are out there, hungry for some plinking ammo. Mine is, and the cheapest stuff currently available is frickin' Federal blue box. No bueno.

WMC is available now AFAIK, sold as Barnaul.

What is it that is different? Other than case finish maybe?

The bullet used is not the same, apparently. I dunno, I just googled it, but I definitely remember seeing accuracy tests where the Wolf shocked me with how good it was and the Barnaul is...not good in that department. The WMC really, really interests me though, because the prices in the US are low. There are videos from mr.gunsandgear where he tests the x39 FMJ in gel and it does amazingly well for an FMJ with bimetal. Worth a look.

Hard to say since likely that review does not show who the manufacturer of the wolf was. Wolf changes often.
