Anybody know what the bullet drop is for a .303 british 180 grain bullet at different ranges? I just scoped a sporter enfield and want to have a good guess as to how much bullet drop there will be at different ranges. Only goes out to 300 yards though.

this may help , what brand of ammo do you use?

It will vary quite a bit whether you are shooting modern ammo or milsurp. Check out your ammo manufacturers web site. They should have data.

Remington factory 180 SP Cor-Lokt's will drop 23.3" at 300 when sighted in at 100. 19.3" when sighted in at 150. The energy drops like a brick past 200 though. 1319 ft-lbs at 200, 950 ft-lbs at 300. 369 ft-lbs less energy at 300.
The ballistics will vary a bit with other brands and definitely different bullet weights.

Mild hijack but as long as we are on the subject:

Original velocity of Mk. VII ball was in the neighbourhood of 2440fps, right? I've got some 174gr FMJs and am trying to duplicate it

Thanks a lot! I have 180 gr Softpoints from Igman.

I just wanted to know an about of how much they will drop so I'm not going to be shooting at the target at 300 yards and hitting the snow. At least this way, I'll have a decent idea of how many clicks I'll have to change the scope.
