303 bullets in 7.62 x 39

Can i shoot 303 bullets out of my howa 7.62x39? Privi campro and speer make 311 bullets for the 303 most others are 312. What about 312 can i shoot them?

Can't say if these are safely suited for your or any other rifle but Hornady 303 caliber .312 174gr RN bullets worked fine in my SKS. Good accuracy at around 1700 fps MV.

As long as you can find listed loads for the bullet weight...start low, work your way up.

Yes.
I've used 125-150 gr Sierra or Speer because of the .311 dis. I don't think the .312 would hurt but the x39 is supposed to use .310 dis bullets. BTW 308 bullets also worked well.

.308 bullets work fine in my 7.62x39 Ruger No.1 which has a .311 nominal groove diameter. I get a pretty decent muzzle speed and fine accuracy with 170gr .308 Partition bullets in this strong action.

No problem shooting Sierra .311 150gr out of both an SKS and a 527 CZ . 21gr of IMR 4198 seated same OAL as 123gr.A moose/ black bear load.Not enough difference in a .310 bullet and a .311 to matter what so ever. Harold

That's pretty impressive velocities for given bullet weights in that ruger #1. Maybe it's time to get one in a cz bolt gun. Kinda hard to justify a #1 for 1800$.

Any other powders, ie 3031 & LVR? Maybe 4895? for a 150 grain 311

Got mine when it was way less expensive. Good decision, now $1899.00. These aren't that common and aren't getting any cheaper.

I can get 2400 fps MV from 150gr bullets in my No.1 rifle. Good accuracy. No apparent excessive pressure signs.

Barnes makes a .311 /TSX 123gr I meant to introduce to a cow moose a couple years ago ,but was holding a .300 H+H when she strolled out on the cutline.Nap time.Harold

I've used 7.62x39 on Deer and Bighorn Sheep. Works fine on that size of game. On Moose? Shot through the boiler room it would likely go quite a ways into the thickets before it drops making recovery tough-going.

Most moose are shot under 100 yards.........so one in the hump/high shoulder in spine............one followup in the forehead..[it's best with chest shot moose to just wait a 1/2 hr before looking for them ] Harold

I've heard about that strategic 50 yard dash lung shot...30-30/7.62x39 are well suited for that...
