Hey guys/gals. Just checking to see if anyone has tried the Campro 303 180gr bullets. I really like the price.

Also wondering if anyone knows what powder is used in the IVI 174 softpoint loads. Our issued ammunition is going to be coming to an end when the C19's show up and I would like to keep my 1945 Longbranch fed.

I don't know what powder is used, but whatever it is, it is not a canister powder you can buy.

But if you want to reload the IVI cases, there are many suitable powders, such as:

BLC2
748
4895
RL15
Varget
Win 760
H380
4350

This is pertaining to lot IVI92M05-02, cartridge .303inch ball, MK8Z. I took one of these cartridges apart and found that it contained 41gr of an unknown ball powder. The projectile was a FMJBT weighing 175gr. The more accurate bullets are flat based bullets in the No4. So, if you're reloading try to get either 150gr or 174gr flat based bullets. I don't know what the Campro bullets are but my experience has been that Campro bullets are fine for plinking but they're not great for precision shooting. Having said that, I don't think there any worse than the military ball bullets.

I load for a number of #4 Lee Enfields. All but one (a brand new one) shoot flat base bullets better than boat tail bullets.

A flat base soft point of 150, 174 or 180 gr and one of the above powders should be tuneable to shoot as well or better than the IVI ammo.

Those are .311 (as most appear to be). I would think anything .312/flat base would be more suitable.

Edit: you might need a .312 expander.

Arent true jacketed Campro bullets made by IVI? Wouldn't be surprising if these were the same SP bullets that were being used for Ranger ammo..?

I've also been looking at these bullets. Anyone use them on game? Or on water jugs or something even?

I have tried them in my son's No. 4 with iron sights. I know the barrel's had extensive usage and we haven't figured this one out yet but results weren't remarkable with the Campro's up to the point where we switched projects. Weight from bullet to bullet was pretty varied if I remember but for this rifle I suspect it wont have any effect.

Tried with VV540, W760, IMR 4166 and Varget with 4166 and VV 540 showing the most promise for accuracy.

I'll be using the rest of the lot up and going Sierra flat bottoms next to have a comparison whether it likes those better, or its something else like my reloads or lack of skill at the range with iron sights.

If it doesn't have a preference then I'll purchase more and use them. My son just wants it to be able to hit the gong at 300m, 24/7, regardless of season. I am confident we'll get there.

I haven't tried them on jugs or game.

I think Riflechair has a youtube vid on those Campro 180's, price was tempting but then the Sierra flat based 180's went on sale at Cabelas before christmas, soooo maybe in a couple months. Lol.

Also interested in accuracy reports, I would think around 3-3.5 MOA wirh you average sporter

That list is just a list of powders that will work well.

I forgot 4064 and 4320.

Unless you have a well bedded rifle with a new barrel, I doubt powder will make much difference. A flat based soft point would probably do better than any other bullet - including match.

I use a moderate dose of BLC2, because I have lots of it.
