anyone have a load they get good results with using the Cast Lymann 200gr bullet with IMR 4227 powder? Normally I would work up a load, however only in town for a few days and would like to get a few rounds off with the old man before I go back home. So, Any loads that get decent results would be appreciated. Rifles are No.4's if that matters.

Thanks.

20.0 - 26.5 grs. You'll want to use a gas-checked bullet for the higher end of that range.

From the 4th Edition of the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook.

I haven't used 4227 in 303Brit but 17 to 18gr of H110 worked well (about the same accuracy as IVI Ball ammo) with Lee's 185gr bullet, and that's very close to the same burn rate so should be a good starting point.

Thanks for the help but was hoping for a specific load. Oh well, ill just load some mid level (About 23g) and see what their like. should be alright, not looking for match grade groups.

My number 4 shoots about 2moa at 100 yards with 25 grains of 4227 and a gas checked 170gr cast bullet.

Any specific load that's shared that "shoots well" in one gun in no way guarantees anything in another - just too many variables - the gun, the specific bullet, lube, etc.

Using mid-range is a good starting point.

For cast loads, you can also use those published for 30/40 Krag. There are many more for it than for 303 Brit.
